Terrible Tuesday. This is a weekly event for me that has been a "thing" for me since middle school. It goes like this: every Tuesday something odd, horrible or embarrassing happens to me. I wake up that morning thinking that this will be the first Tuesday since middle school that I will have a terrific Tuesday, but nope, something always happens. It started in club gymnastics. Tuesday practices were always terrible, and over the years it has progressed to just life in general. Today is my first blog edition of "Terrible Tuesday" where I will share just one of many terrible Tuesday stories. This one happened about two months ago. The story is short, but I promise you, it doesn't need to be long to be cringeworthy.
I woke up on an average Tuesday morning, nothing special happening that day. I told myself that this Tuesday was going to be different, nothing bad would happen. I got out of bed and got my things to go shower. As I walked into the hall, I saw the janitor making his daily trash rounds, so I waited until he was finished and out of the bathroom. About a minute later, I saw him leave, so I went and started to unload my shower supplies. I was taking my towel off and hanging it up on the hook when I heard a male voice
"Custodian coming in!"
He gave me no time to reply, so I jumped in the shower as fast as I could, and violently pulled the shower curtain shut just in time as he walked in. Awkward situation avoided? Nope. Since I pulled the shower curtain closed so fast, the entire shower rod decided to fall off the wall, taking my privacy with it. I stood there with nothing to hide me, he stood there in shock, and then we both started screaming. There is nothing more effective than a morning shower to wake me up, but this is not what I meant. It definitely was a wake up call!
This is just one of my Terrible Tuesday occurrences, there will be plenty more. Those who I tell about Terrible Tuesday now have Terrible Tuesdays themselves, it is basically a curse, and it is real. The lesson to be learned here is, rushing is never the answer, double check to see if the coast is custodian clear, and watch out for Terrible Tuesday.
Have a terrific Terrible Tuesday!
